Lisa Bour
Founder & Lead Practitioner
LMHC, PMH-C
I am naturally curious about people. I have always been drawn to what sits beneath the surface: why certain patterns keep repeating, and what actually helps life begin to feel different. My style as a therapist holds reason and heart together. I am warm, relational, and deeply invested in the people I sit with, creating a supportive space where trust, authenticity, and honesty feel safe. At the same time, I am analytical and clear. I ask thoughtful questions, look for underlying patterns, and help complicated, overwhelming situations feel clearer and more manageable. I do not approach therapy as a passive observer. I offer feedback, teach practical skills, and help you connect what we discover in session to what actually happens outside of it.
Before becoming a therapist, I practiced family law. After a deliberate career change, I now work exclusively as a psychotherapist. That legal training strengthened my ability to stay grounded in emotionally charged situations, consider multiple perspectives, ask precise questions, and think carefully through complex problems. Those qualities travel with me directly into the therapy room every day.
While our relationship is the heart of our work, I draw heavily from research-backed clinical frameworks tailored to your specific needs. This includes structured, comprehensive Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) to build concrete skills for managing intense emotional surges and quieting chronic overthinking, Gottman Method Couples Therapy to break destructive conflict loops and rebuild intimacy, and Perinatal Mental Health (PMH-C) for certified, specialized care spanning preconception, pregnancy, and postpartum for individuals and couples. I support clients navigating fertility challenges, pregnancy and postpartum mood disorders (such as anxiety and depression), birth trauma, loss, and the identity shift into parenthood.
Outside the therapy room, I am a wife and mother of three young children. Raising a busy family gives me a very real, practical appreciation for emotion regulation, clear communication, and everyday flexibility. In my personal time, I stay grounded by spending time with family and friends, getting caught up in a good book, staying active, or simply enjoying a great cup of coffee. I bring that same realistic, human perspective into my work with individuals and couples.
Whether you are navigating a challenging life transition, looking for practical tools to manage overwhelming emotions, or seeking deeper clarity in your relationships, I am here to help. If you feel like we might be a good fit, I would love to connect to hear what you are looking for and answer any questions you have.
